A pilot genome sequence for the first specific pathogen-free (SPF) P. vannamei produced produced by the US Marine Shrimp Farming Program (SFP) was initiated (Alcivar-Warren 2020, Alcivar-Warren et al, 2020). I was a member of the Technical Committee of the USMFP from 1992 to 2009 while an Assistant Professor at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine.

The report predicts that seafood will see lasting impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic. The seafood industry overall will continue to be affected negatively by the pandemic even beyond direct closures caused by it.
